The Saco Sidewalk Arts Festival attracted lots of great artists and crafters....but not so many arts-and-crafts-buyers. We set up in the pouring rain, the high never reached 60, and we rejoiced when the sun peeked through enough for us to see our shadows for about 12 minutes.
The highlight of the day was that the hollow log nightstand won an award (which is ironic considering the puddle of water that collected on the glass top from our slightly leaky tent.) I would have to say that it is one of David's best pieces. (Although it's a little hard for me to choose since I want to keep everything...)
Awards are always a morale booster, but I think my favorite part of the shows we have done so far this year is interacting with the kids. I'll often look up to find them staring with wide eyes while we do something as simple as hand sanding. It's even better when their faces light up because we let them touch and hold the piece that is being shaped. Sure beats the, "JOHNNY! DON'T touch that!".....CRASH!! "JOHNNYYYYYY!!" that I hear going on in neighboring tents. =)
